Davis 1929 Sauce
Davis 1929 sauce started when my Father, William B. Davis, born December 6th, 1929, made his very own “simply delicious” all-purpose sauce.
We attended a small country church, Salem Baptist Church in Cochran, Ga. On Saturday evenings there would be a lot of people from our church to come to the Davis’ barbecue. My brother Ken and I would lose count there were so many people to attend our barbecue. Our grandparents lived on a huge farm and my grandfather built his own barbecue pit to entertain his family and church family. My Father would make his soon-to-be famous all-purpose sauce and the church people would rave about it being the best sauce that they had ever tasted. Uncle Owen and Aunt Merle say it is simply the best. The church barbecues reminded me of Southfork in the TV show “Dallas”. Lots of people told my Father that the sauce was so good that he should bottle it up, and sell the sauce. The sauce is “simply delicious”.
My Father and Mother accepted Jesus as their Savior at Salem Baptist Church soon after they were married. Praise God our entire family has accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. My husband grew up in a Christian family as well. Through my Father’s sauce, I want to spread the “good news” that Jesus saves, and on each label is inscribed the verse John 3:16.
My husband Mike and I have two daughters, Hailee and Michele. My Father loved his granddaughters and would want them to be a part of the family sauce business. On the label is a heart with his granddaughters initials H/M. Our daughters accepted Jesus as their Savior and were baptized on July 3rd 2005.
In 1998, my parents came to visit us, and my Father read an ad in the Atlanta Journal Constitution on how to bottle up your recipe and get it out on the market. At the time, my daughters were young. I was so busy taking good care of them as a stay-at- home Mom and I was very involved in their school. My Father said “Donna, I know your plate is full, but down the road, I want you to bottle up my all-purpose original recipe sauce and get it out on the market.” Throughout the years, we discussed bottling up this great sauce because so many people strongly recommended it.
Well, the time came to fulfill my Father’s wishes. I made the sauce and provided Endorphin Farms with the recipe. (They loved it!). On August 27th 2012, we went to Endorphin Farms for the first production run. The first bottle to come off the production line was proudly marked: “God bless my Daddy’s sauce”.
One of my many daily prayers with my family is that God will bless my Daddy’s sauce. One of my favorite Bible verses is Matthew 19:26, “With God all things are possible.” Praise God! Through Davis 1929, and with John 3:16 engraved on each bottle, it is our ministry to reach out to the world and spread the good news “Jesus Saves”.
